Many rug hooking artists combine a wide variety of materials in their work to produce satisfying results.

Traditionally, rug hooking was done with wool fabric strips or yarn. But today, anything goes. From plastic bags and tee shirts to Sari silk and velvet, it is all fair game as a hooking material. Additionally, other materials are applied to the artwork. This might include glass, seashells, mirrors, feathers, rocks, lichens and so much more.

As you view this virtual exhibit, you may enjoy looking for different fibers and added materials in the art.
