This rug was hooked as a challenge rug. Green Mountain Hooked Rugs asked people to hook the Vermont Cow pattern for a display of cows at Sauder Village Rug Show. The Champlain Islands Fiber Bees all took turns hooking on this rug. It showcases Vermont and the Champlain Islands. Look closely for bees, apple trees, ice cream cone, Bernie Sanders, honey comb, round bales of hay, a farm, sailboat, fish, skiing snowman and more… Of course, times have changed and the Sauder Show was canceled, so you get to enjoy our cow virtually.
About the Artists
The Champlain Fiber Bees is a large group of fiber artists from around the state, who gather weekly in the Champlain Islands to socialize, share and create. Most members do rug hooking, but many do other fiber arts also, such as: embroidery, weaving, crochet, etc. The group puts on an Annual Fiber Fest each August to show off their work and introduce people to rug hooking. Last year was the 10th annual Fiber Fest. This year it was canceled due to the pandemic.
