As an antique dealer, I am inspired and rather taken by chairs as useful art. This Tulip chair rug is a tribute to Eero Saarinen (1910-1961), architect and industrial engineer, who designed the Tulip chair circa 1955. The chair was manufactured by Knoll International in 1956.
The photo below shows the image I used to hook the chair. The photo is courtesy of the New York Public Library Picture Collection.

About the artist:
I have been rug hooking for four years. It started with an afternoon class at Green Mountain Hooked Rugs in Montpelier. Next, I enrolled in the class at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC) with Pam Finnigan as my enthusiastic teacher. I was first inspired to hook when I saw Barbara Ploof’s dog rug pictured in the MSAC newsletter.
I encourage everyone to learn rug hooking……as it is such an artful and fun means of expression.
