We live in an area of Vermont that has many farms and I have always enjoyed watching the sheep grazing in the fields. They are very social creatures and are often grouped together. I have hooked sheep before but this design just seemed like it needed to be hooked. I decided to add a name as a border, but struggled to come up with something appropriate. When in Rug School last year, I brought the rug to class and asked for some suggestions. The biblical passage was suggested and it seemed to fit.
About the artist:
By profession, I was a teacher and librarian but always found time to work on hand crafts. I enjoyed folk designs, tole painting, needlepoint and embroidery, all of which became hobbies. After moving to Vermont in 2009, I became interested in rug hooking from our local rug hooking group, the Mad River Hookers. I made many new friends and was encouraged to take classes at the various rug schools which not only improved my skills but also increased my enthusiasm for this craft.
