The image of the Swallow-tailed Gull came from the cover of “Darwin’s Galapagos”, a catalog advertising cruises sponsored by Three Lindblad Travel, Inc. in 1968.
I used my old black and red check lumber jacket on back of the purse and on top of the strap. The purse was assembled and sewn together by the talented Anne Fernweh. Thank you Anne.
About the Artist:
I have been rug hooking for four years. It started with an afternoon class at Green Mountain Hooked Rugs in Montpelier. Next, I enrolled in the class at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC) with Pam Finnigan as my enthusiastic teacher. I was first inspired to hook when I saw Barbara Ploof’s dog rug pictured in the MSAC newsletter.
I encourage everyone to learn rug hooking……as it is such an artful and fun means of expression.
