This rug is a tribute to my son Joel’s childhood. It portrays the house we lived in, Joel in front wearing his ghostbuster T-shirt with his beloved bike, my grandfather on the porch looking down, and our two cats.
About the Artist

I have been drawn to fiber and textiles since I was a young child. I had a little table loom and a hand crank sewing machine by the time I was 7, and a floor loom by the time I was twelve. I come from an ‘artsy’ family and during my childhood, my creative interests were encouraged and supported.
I learned about rug hooking in the early ’90s from a friend. Together we adapted a pattern from an arts and crafts era Charles Voysey wallpaper design. I started hooking it and never looked back. Though I have been hooking for many years now, I still have a lot to learn.
I recently retired from my long career as an oncology nurse and administrator and look forward to devoting more time to hooking and punching rugs.
