I have always been interested in insects so when I saw Bev Conway’s pattern for sale, I couldn’t resist.Trying to make the insects look real was beyond my skills so I chose bright colors from my stash and just enjoyed hooking them in a primitive style. It was a joy to hook.
About the artist:
I have been hooking for about five years. The first hooked items that inspired me where the primitive hooked mats that were offered for sale in Newfoundland craft shops. The greatest inspiration was a person in Birchy Cove, NL whose charming pieces were images of Newfoundland outports . She encouraged me to “just try it” and was right. I was hooked. Since that time I have been encouraged, taught and inspired by my local rug hooking group in the Mad River Valley.
